This little guy is a life saver. Essentially it shines bright white light to the photosensitive receptors in your brain via your ear canals. When these photosensitive areas of the brain are stimulated, it affects the neurotransmitters (serotonin, dopamine and noradrenaline). As a result, when using the HumanCharger you experience an increase in energy levels, improved mood, increased mental alertness and quicker recovery from the effects of jet lag.
Applications I swear by are two-fold. Firstly, the biggest pain in the backside for international athletes is jetlag and time zone changes. This literally has me back on any time zone within two periods of sleep. When you wake in the morning you put these LEDSet earbuds in your ears for 12 minutes, at which point bright light flows through your ear canals signalling to your brain that now is the time your body needs to wake up. For me, one more session when I get the afternoon snoozes and I was good to go. Secondly, that dreaded double day training session or late night race. So much better than coffee to motivate and wake you up for a night race and even better being able to sleep when you’re ready to go to bed.
